How to get to Chiang Rai?

Bangkok-Chiang Rai

By bus:

The 10-hour journey from Bangkok can be made on air-conditioned coaches originating from Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal.

By plane:
There are daily flights from Bangkok to Chiang Rai. The journey takes 1 hour and 20 minutes.

By car:
From Bangkok to Chiang Rai, follow Highway #32 to Ayuthaya and than it automatically goes into the Super Highway #1. From there it's one way straight to north, but it will be good to have a map with you.

Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai

 

By bus:
Deluxe coaches operated by Greenbus depart Chiang Mai's Arcade Bus Terminal (north of the city, opposite Carrefour and just off the super highway) on a regular basis. The journey takes three hours and costs about 520 baht for a round-trip.

 

By car:
From Chiang Mai it's easy accesbly by car. Follow Highway #118, passing some mountains and having wonderful scenic views on your way.
