Chat House has proved itself over the years to be a good and an inexpensive accommodation in Chiang Rai. It was established by Khun Malai in 1983 as one of the first guesthouses in Chiang Rai City and is now runned by her friendly cousins, Yam & Yui. The lovely sisters in business, are proud of Chat House and give their guests a warm welcome and a stay to remember.
The name “Chat” reminds you of a French cat or a good talk, but none of that was the reason for this relaxed guesthouse to have this name. It is assured to be a decent guesthouse where you’ll get some personal service, meet other travelers in the open area and share some true experiences. Chat House is located in a quiet soi next to Wat Phra Keow and on walking distance from downtown Chiang Rai, the Saturday Walking Street and the local market.
Chat House has 20 rooms in total with the necessary facilities. Up to your requests, we have dormitory, single, double or triple rooms with fan or air conditioners, with private or shared toilet and hot showers. And a long term stay is also possible.
The restaurant serves good Western and Thai foods and according to many Chiang Rai residents who come here to have a relaxed lunch or dinner, or a take away: worth the money! Breakfast starts at 20 baht and the fresh roasted Bon Café coffee is served all day. There are also vegetarian dishes, but also big homemade hamburgers.Come and try it!
Chat House recently started a new home made bakery, offering a wide variety of delicious cakes and pastries for very reasonable prices made fresh daily. That's a big yummie for your tummie! as a take away or to enjoy with a hot cup of coffee or tea.
Tours and trekking can also be arranged. There are 11 sightseeing tours and 6 trekking over more days. Please ask the tour guide for tour options and experience Chiang Rai with us!
